H.O.S.T Alliance: a defining era in Azerbaijani rap

The collective’s beginnings

H.O.S.T Alliance was an Azerbaijani rap collective that began operating in 2007. Across different periods, artists including Qaraqan, Jamal Ali, Felon De Jure, Feck, ErranT, AiD, Dərviş and PRoMete were associated with the collective.

Its impact on Azerbaijani rap

H.O.S.T drew broad attention from 2008 onward. The collective helped alternative music and Azerbaijani-language rap reach a wider young audience. Research on local subcultures identifies H.O.S.T as an important stage in the popularisation of Azerbaijani rap.

Although the group ended its activities in 2012, its songs and the later solo work of its members continued to reach new generations of listeners.
